Preamble & Mandatory Residence Compliance
All residents admitted to White Hostel are subject to the rules and guidelines stated herein. The objective of these regulations is to maintain high standards of security, hygiene, mutual decorum, and an academically supportive residential atmosphere. Booking or occupying any bedspace constitutes full acceptance of these terms.
Quiet hours are strictly observed daily between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. During these hours, loud conversations, music, TV audio, musical instruments, and slamming doors are strictly prohibited to facilitate study and rest.
The possession, sale, distribution, storage, or consumption of alcoholic beverages, narcotics, shisha, marijuana, or any illicit substances anywhere on the hostel premises is strictly prohibited. Violators will face immediate eviction and referral to state law enforcement authorities.
White Hostel is entirely smoke-free. Smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, or vapes in student rooms, hallways, balconies, washrooms, or stairwells is strictly banned.
Residents are expected to treat fellow occupants, hostel wardens, cleaning staff, security personnel, and visitors with dignity. Physical fighting, verbal abuse, cyberbullying, harassment, or hazing of any kind will attract severe disciplinary sanctions.
Rooms and bedspaces are allocated strictly to registered students. Residents cannot swap rooms, 'squat', sublet, or sell their allocated bedspace to any third party under any circumstances. Unauthorized occupants will be removed immediately.
Each student is issued a designated room key. Duplication of hostel keys by external locksmiths or installing unauthorized padlocks/deadbolts is prohibited. Lost keys must be reported immediately and will incur a replacement fee.
Hostel furniture (beds, study desks, chairs, wardrobes, curtains) assigned to a room must remain inside that room. Removing furniture to common corridors or swapping items between rooms is not permitted.
Occupants are personally responsible for sweeping, mopping, and maintaining clean rooms. The hostel management and wardens reserve the right to conduct scheduled and unannounced room hygiene and safety inspections.
Residents are strictly forbidden from drilling holes, hammering nails, painting walls, or defacing doors. Any damage caused to hostel property or fixtures will be billed directly to the occupants of that room.
Non-resident visitors and guests are allowed on premises only between 08:00 AM and 08:00 PM daily. Visitors must sign the visitor logbook at the security gate and deposit a valid national photo ID.
No guest, visitor, or non-resident student is permitted to sleep over or remain in hostel bedrooms after 08:00 PM. Hosting unauthorized overnight visitors will incur a mandatory surcharge and disciplinary action.
The main hostel gate is locked at 10:00 PM each night for security reasons. Residents returning after 10:00 PM must present valid student identification and record their details and reason for late entry with security.
Host residents are fully responsible for the demeanor, conduct, and adherence to rules by their guests while on hostel property.
Residents may use laptops, mobile phone chargers, table study lamps, and low-wattage standing fans (under 60W). All electrical equipment must have standard intact cables and plugs.
High-wattage heating or cooking appliances such as electric coils, immersion water heaters, hot plates, halogen heaters, electric stoves, and heavy washing machines are strictly forbidden in bedrooms due to electrical fire hazards.
Due to fire safety risks, the lighting of candles, open flame lanterns, incense sticks, mosquito coils with burning embers, or gas burners in bedrooms is strictly forbidden. LED lights and rechargeable lamps must be used instead.
Tampering with distribution boards, bypassing miniature circuit breakers (MCBs), or laying external illegal wiring between rooms is an offence punishable by immediate suspension and fine.
All meal preparation and cooking must take place solely inside the designated communal kitchen areas. Cooking inside student bedrooms or along hallway corridors is strictly prohibited.
Residents must clean stove surfaces, countertops, and sinks immediately after cooking. Unwashed pots, pans, and plates must not be left sitting in communal kitchen sinks.
All food items must be stored in airtight containers. Food scraps and organic waste must be bagged and deposited into organic waste bins to prevent cockroaches and rodent infestation.
Water closets must be flushed after every single use. Do not dispose of sanitary pads, wipes, plastic bags, newspapers, or solid objects into toilet bowls. Use the bathroom dustbins provided.
Ensure water taps and shower heads are firmly turned off after use. Residents must promptly report any leaking faucets, broken cisterns, or overflow pipes via the hostel portal or to the maintenance warden.
Disposing of rubbish, throwing water from balcony railings, or dumping trash in hallways is strictly prohibited. All garbage must be securely bagged and discarded in the designated outdoor wheelie bins.
A room booking is considered active and legally valid only upon full verification of booking payment. Rent and utility fees paid are non-refundable once the semester has commenced.
Violations of the White Hostel residence code will result in: (1) First Offence: Official Written Warning; (2) Second Offence: Financial Surcharge and notification to parents/university dean; (3) Third/Severe Offence: Immediate Eviction with forfeiture of rent.
At the end of each academic semester, residents must surrender room keys to the warden, clear personal effects, and complete the official room clearance inspection before leaving.
